The importance of exercise
There is no point calorie counting if you don’t actually move. There are a variety of ways to burn off calories, a simple walk round the park or a run if you feel energized! You could also do a few trips up and down the stairs.
I’m quite lazy, however, I do regularly walk to the shop and back (that’s 70 calories!). You don’t have to turn into a gym fanatic to get some exercise. Walk where you can, take up dance lessons, even cleaning your home is good.
All of them burn calories and the bonus is you’ll feel better in yourself. If you feel you need to take a break, do. You’re not training for a marathon if your body says ‘enough is enough’; give it a five minute rest. You’ve not failed you just need to take a breather. Rome, after all was not built in a day.
If you don’t have the funds, or time to get to the dance, you can actually use household items as makeshift equipment, such as paint cans to do curls, the lip of your kitchen cupboards to do sit ups, you could even hang a solid pillow from the ceiling to use as a light punch bag. A little imagination can turn nearly anything into a piece of work out equipment.
If you’re stuck in a rut, which a lot of people do find themselves in, why not also take up a college course? Hairdressers nearly never stop moving, as do mechanics and nurses. Set yourself a goal, and go for it. You’ve come this far, you may as well keep going because you’re closer to your goal now than you are to where you started.
If you want to, organize a walk with a friend, or if you’re a member of a weight club, organize a group walk with them. There are some stunning parts of the world and you could stop in to each pub as you come by them! Fresh air in your lungs and a feeling of friendship will really motivate you!
